I made another purse!

Friday, December 30th, 2005

This is a cable knit purse done in Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick. It is for an undisclosed recipient in an undisclosed location. I made this yesterday and today. The knitting of the purse did not take so long, but the sewing in of the lining did take time. It was a lot of fun to make.

The pattern for this purse came from this site and this site I did alter it a little bit. I added more repeats to make the purse bigger and also used a thicker yarn.

No longer top secret–gifts I gave on Christmas

Tuesday, December 27th, 2005

These are gifts that I gave away on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. (Well, most of them anyway.)

These are Keri, Kelly, and Mom’s mittens. They were knit up in Knit Picks Panache. I also knit matching headbands for all of them, but forgot to take a picture. 000_0108

The purple mittens were for Seung-ho’s mom (You can see the keyhole scarf I made her below.) These were her birthday present. The green keyole scarf and mittens are mine. They were all knit in Rowan cork.

This scarf is Dad’s. It’s a mistake rib stitch done in KnitPicks Decadence (a 100% alpaca yarn)

I also made my other Grandma some dishcloths, Hunter a snowflake illusion scarf, and my Brother-in-law a hat, but I forgot to take pictures of those.

Christmas went over really well and everyone really liked their gifts. :)

Gift Elf Gift (From Knitters Review)

Tuesday, December 27th, 2005

I didn’t want to post this on my blog before Christmas, but here is the gift I made my gift elf for X-mas. A mitten, hat, and keyhole scarf set done in elann.com’s Peruvian Highland Chunky wool. 000_0119

FINISHED with Christmas knitting

Friday, December 23rd, 2005

I knit 18 items for 12 people this Christmas. I finished the last one last night!(It was a snowflake illusion scarf for my nephew, Hunter.) I will post pictures of the gifts later, but since some of the people receiving the gifts look at my blog, I can’t post them just yet.

On another happy note, my school vacation began yesterday, and now I have 17 days of freedom and relaxation!

An AWESOME knitted gift

Thursday, December 15th, 2005

I participated in a knitted gift exchange this year set up with the help of the knitter’s review forum. I knitted something for my ‘gift elf’ and she knitted something for me. We filled out a little questionnaire and exchanged info about our winter coat colors and the like. Well, I finished her gift this past weekend and sent it out on Tuesday. She sent mine out Monday and it came today. This was truly the best day of my knitting life.

The photos are: 1) the box containing the gift under my tree, 2) When I just opened the box, and 3) Yay! My gift!

She sent me a hat (with a pom pom!) and a mistake-rib scarf in beautiful hand dyed Lorna’s laces Shepherd worsted wool yarn. It is super soft–and look at the amazing colors! The scarf almost look like it has a cool plaid pattern. Definitely click on the photos for a closer look. And there are even two skeins of yarn for me to make something else for myself. Mittens? Legwarmers? Another hat? So much yarn, so little time!

Today was a good day!
